Exhibition from January 21 – May 22, 2021 at Etopia Center for Art and Technology.
Works by Aarati Akkapedi, Sofia Crespo & Entangled Others, Ian Gouldstone, Libby Heaney, Mario Klingemann, Mónica Rikić, Anna Ridler, Helena Sarin and Patrick Tresset.

In recent years we have witnessed an explosion of interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques applied to creativity and a consequent media avalanche on this issue. With the visionarIAs exhibition and its associated program, Etopia intends to question suspicions that arise when we talk about creativity and artificial intelligence. Observe how AI and human creativity interact and make the artistic context evolve, challenging our link with machines from different perspectives to establish new modalities of relationship beyond the utilitarian.

We have invited ten international artists working at the crossroads of generative art, robotics and AI. All of them have in common a taste for innovative, disruptive creations, with outstanding technical skills and discursive significance. VisionarIAs works are pioneering and are at the forefront of the technological revolution.

To the relationship between creativity and AI, it is intended to superimpose another dimension. This exhibition also seeks to explore the concepts of vision and visuality in relation to the creativity of machines and their impact on artistic creation. The senses are the gateway to the physical world and creativity is nurtured from this experience of the tangible world. One of the traditional functions of art is to remake or recreate reality. This exhibition questions the gaze, the vision of machines and the difference with the human vision or gaze when creating or recreating a worldview.
